Solas Business Dragon's Den

This morning, Friday the 18th of May, Fifth Class took a trip to Bank of America in Leopardstown, to find out the workings of a business corporation. But more importantly still, they got an opportunity to present their business proposals in their groups of 6 to the Dragons.

Each group has been working tirelessly over the last month, along with their business mentors, designing their product, creating posters, writing their presentation and practising their public speaking. Speaking with confidence and eloquence, every girl in 5th class did themselves and their mentors proud.

It was no easy feat for the Dragons to choose the winner, and while they deliberated, we were given the opportunity to take a little peek around the offices to see what it is like to work in a big business corporation.

Finally, the judges arrived at their decision. The tension was palpable. Luckily, we knew that everyone was leaving with a goody bag to soften the blow, and there was also a special delivery of pizza for all the hard-working presenters. We could get used to this!

And the winners were announced...Fashionistas!!! Ella, Mary, Saoirse Hayes, Niamh, Emily and Hannah Spencer jumped for joy. Their winning idea was a 'Fabrobe'; a wardrobe that picks your clothes for you based on the weather and seasons. They will now go forward to represent St. Brigid's at the big Solas Business final on Friday, the 8th of June.

A HUGE thank you to Becky in Solas, to the mentors, the Dragons and everyone at Bank of America for such an enjoyable day.

Congratulations and best of luck to Hannah, Saoirse, Emily, Mary, Ella and Niamh!
